EVOLUTION OF LANGUAGE....
◘ The first question that struck us while
pondering about language, words, scripts
et cetera
was how did a person explain the
meaning to another
person of a word that
he had newly created, while he
had no
sets of word to describe it..the answer that
we came up with was
sign language.
But, after some
more deep
deliberation,
we found a big
flaw in this
answer. Even
when a person
knows the sign language, he
must
have
learnt it from somewhere..so,
the person
who creates sign language also
has to
explain the
meaning of the gesture
without
any word or any other signs.
Another
flaw is misunderstanding between
the two
people involved in the
conversation. For
example, if a man says
his newly created
word "big", he will
explain it by throwing
his hands up and bringing them down in a circular manner. But, the second person can
misunderstand the meaning
to be something else like the sun, the rock, the hill, the ball etc. Then suppose he infers
the meaning to be hill, he would point his
fingers to a hill to
ask whether his inference is right or wrong? Here again
the first person has to make a gesture .
The misunderstanding occurs again . He would sway his head from left to right, and again the person does not know
what swaying the head that way means.
◘ The answer cited by many linguistic researchers, books etc. is sign language with trial and error..and we are
forced to get convinced with this answer for now.

)
◘ The English were colonialising
people.Their colonies extended from
Africa to
Australia and hence their
language borrowed
words from the
language of every colony. Thus,
English
became an international
medium o
f communication.
◘ As science and technology,
banking and finance flourished in the
west,
English became the official
language of currency all
over the
world, used widely in all businesses
and disciplines.
◘ As the previous point had come
into existence, scientists and their
organisations chose English as the
language for
nomenclature
of their
discoveries and
inventions.Thus, also
forcing reluctant people to learn English. They are forced to learn English because they need to learn science etc. in order to
earn their bread and science's nomenclature is mostly in English. For instance, chemicals in the periodic table have no Hindi,
Spanish, German
...... names.
◘ Thanks to loanwords borrowed from various languages, English has been enriched .One of the reasons why nationals of
many countries around the world feel comfortable in learning and speaking English which has words from their languages
as well.Scores of writers,
speakers, poets and journalists - all want to practise their profession in English so that they are
internationally acclaimed. People feel obliged that an
international language has taken a set of words from their language and
hence prefer to speak an international language that also highlights the very
existence and importance of their mother
language.
